As our name suggests, we here at Pen and Plastic specialise in 3D pens and the plastics you need to create 3D art. Whether you want to select the best pen, choose the right plastic, or are simply looking for some creative inspiration for your next creation, we've got you covered.

3D Pens

A 3D pen is a handheld device that can create objects and 3D creations from plastic filament. It works by heating plastic filaments such as PLA or ABS to melting point and then painting with this molten plastic on a flat surface or creating free hand shapes in the air.

These pens earn their name by their ability to create free form 3-dimensional art. If picture says a thousand words, then in this case a video says a million.

Here is a video I made explaining the basics behind using this device.

If you liked the video above, then you can learn more about how to use a 3D Pen by clicking the button below.

Once you have chosen your pen and plastic, read some of our beginner guides. We explain how to use to use 3D pen stencils and even provide you with some free PDF’s to get you started with your own designs.

Also take a look at our
portfolio, as well as my article in which I explain how I went about bringing these ideas to live. I goes over her design process and explains how to paint these 3D creations.

Another useful technique for creating art with a 3D pen, especially if you are a beginner is to use stencils to create parts of your object, and then afterwards use the pen itself to attach the individual pieces of plastic to form your object.

I discuss this in my post which you can find by clicking the button below.
