In my first 3D print test, I used PLA for the filament, which the manufacturer provides. I tested the print quality by printing a torture test, then a Benchy before printing a long 24-hour print model of a curved honeycomb vase.
Generally, the Robo R2 produces some exquisite prints. All the prints were finished without any significant errors or hiccups, ending up in clean and smooth pieces.
And even though warping is possible when printing ABS, this can be fixed by altering the heating plate temperature and extrusion speed.
I would say the more profound challenges came in post-printing when it was time to get the prints off the tray. This can be a tricky task if you are using a spatula, and you stand the risk of damaging the plate if you use too much force.
With mere print speeds of 16mm/s as suggested by the manufacturer, the Robo R2 isn’t exactly the speed demon it’s touted to be.
The travel speeds are actually better at 250mm/s, although this printer is not among the fastest I’ve tested.
But you can expect the print quality and accuracy to be better than most printers in its class, with layer resolutions of up to 300microns.
Lower resolution models may end up experiencing slight layer shifting; otherwise, the R2 offers a smooth and clean finish.

Quality control is a major issue with the Robo R2 3D printer and this is something the company needs to address. Some of these issues start creeping up as early a couple of weeks or months after receiving the units
With a price tag of around $1500, the Robo R2 is definitely not for everyone. It’s mostly business and serious users who purchase it, but if you have the financial capacity to acquire this machine, you might just be able to justify owning one.
